I will keep you up to date.  To answer your questions:

CANADA 150

To answer your questions this week: We have to be in our apartment by 9pm so we havent seen any sunsets yet.  I haven't been ballin, but probably should. My cooking skills are still not great. I am too poor to eat at McDonalds, so I better keep practicing my cooking skills. We have been visiting a less active lady who suffers from seizures and she unfortunately had one while we were visiting, that was a little crazy. We were not supposed to be around Canada Day parties, but we could hear them around us.  Yes thank you I got the book and the package, my fidget spinner broke though. Happy Canada Day Everyone!

Arrived in Winnipeg

Hello Family,

Nothing really crazy happened this entire week, I have been moved into Winnipeg, the most strangely designed city I've ever seen in my life, it was like they let kids draw lines on a giant piece of paper and then they build the roads according to the lines. The streets all have names not numbers so it makes it super hard to find where you are trying to go.
The drive to Winnipeg was pretty long and super flat, there really is not much scenery to look at. Our apartment is pretty nice and has lots of room in it. My new companion Elder Gregson, is cousins with the other Gregson, he is cool. He went home from his mission for a while, but he came back out for the last 8 months and is now serving with me. He is the district leader and we have 4 sisters and the assistants in our district.  There are like 60 people in the ward, we have a huge building but like no members to fill it, its honestly bigger than our stake center probably.

Bye for now.

Transfer time

May 29, 2017

So, today I found out that I'm being moved to Winnipeg, just in time for the heat! haha. I will be pretty close to Elder Black and the Spanish district, and we will be able to go on exchanges every so often. I will be in a ward. I don't know how many people but it is a ward so they might have a gym. It is supposed to be pretty humid and warm in Winnipeg, that's gonna be rough, especially cause we cant go swimming or anything!

This week was not too crazy. We had a couple lessons throughout the week with our less active and on Sunday he passed the sacrament! Me and our new priest blessed the sacrament and we had a good lesson with him in gospel principles and we taught him about agency and a couple Christ-like attributes. That was good for him as he has been struggling hard with a lot of things and being patient with others.

We had a lot of service this week and we had a lot to do at the salvation army. I found one of my childhood dream toys, a Darth maul light saber, you know the one with light saber on both sides, I really wanted it, haha, but couldn't have it-- and now that i'm going to Winnipeg I will never see it... haha. that day was pretty hectic.

On Wednesday, I got to go on exchanges with Elder Bateman, we played some basketball and then we had a lesson with our less active . We stayed the night in Prince Albert.

Thursday, we had interviews, and then after that we came back to Melfort and we were supposed to haul bags of recycled bags into a semi, but we were too late and so the staff did it all by themselves. We had family history that  night and even had some non members show up to it which was nice, at least I think they were non members.

Friday was pretty fun, we had a young men's activity where we had a hot dog roast over a bonfire, three of them actually, we had a lot of fires going and I thought they were going to go out of control.

Not much happened on Saturday. Sunday was an average day, a member from the branch was in the hospital so we went and visited her and gave her a blessing. We also brought dinner to the family that night and visited with the boys and shared some funny scriptures from proverbs like proverbs 23: 13-14. "beat your kids" haha

thats the week in a wrap

Have you learned anything about the seniors that live at the old folks home? Stories they have shared of their life
Have you come across a scriptures this week that left an impression with you?
Have you started the Book of mormon again yet?
Did you get the Journal and gifts we sent yet? It is supposed to arrive May 31
When is your next transfer day? It seems like it is coming up
Have you fed any chickens there?
Tell us something interesting that happened this week for you
Do you have bikes if you wanted to use them? or tennis or badminton rackets if you wanted to use them on P Day?
Get any new ties?

1. not really, they don't talk all that much
2. I will think about it
3. I started like may 10th and now i'm in Alma
4. they supposedly showed up today? i will check
5. Today!
6. no.
7. i got to hold a baby chicken
8. we do not have bikes, and no tennis or badminton
9. nope

May 22, 2017

Hello, Wednesday was a very special day for one of the members here, it was Verna Clark's 100th birthday on the 16th and on Saturday we had a party for her and a bunch of people showed up and we had cake and someone sang for her and played the accordion, it was super cool. It was not just your average accordion but it was super nice and made out of some expensive materials. She even came to church this Sunday even though she is at the old folks home. She is super nice and loves to talk with everyone

We didn't do much this week.We tried to teach a less active named Simone but she was not able to meet all week, and our other less active, he is still smoking (or so i believe) but being super defensive that he has stopped whenever we or anyone else confronts him. We had family history class and had a few people show up to do it which was nice, including him, he has found a bunch of names and has started growing his family tree.

On Sunday we went out to see the Charbennous, we had hot dogs and marshmallows around a fire which was fun to do and we (Elder Romeril) taught them a lesson about getting in the wheelbarrow, the guy that uses the tightrope across Niagara falls and asks someone to get in with him and no one wants too cause it is scary, that composed most of our week.

QUESTIONS:
1. Have you made any ties skinny yet?
2. Did you celebrate with your $50?
3. Do you buy chocolate milk there?
4. Do any of the members live on farms and have you been invited there?
5.Do you want me to send your journal now?
6. Have you tried playing tennis or badminton? Karri stewart said they sent rackets to Elder Stewart to play with— and snow shoes in the winter
7.Do you have any particular scriptures or thoughts that have reached out to you this week?
_________________________
1. no
2. not really we just got a few things here and there
3. no
4. most of them live on farms so that's really where we go
5. yes please ASAP
6.no but we play a weird form of it at Parkland (old folks home)
7. Mosiah 3:19 i think... the natural man is a enemy to god

cool week for activities i would say -Love, Elder Sheen

May 15, 2017

Sure was nice to talk to everyone yesterday! The crazy storm that came through went by quickly. This week was really crazy, a lot happened but it still seemed like it took forever to get to today. We did Family home evening on Monday night and gave the sacrament to the people in Parkland (old folks home) and that took up most of the evening. On Tuesday we went up to Nipawin to see a man named Travis, who is our only kinda sorta investigator, he is a hour and 15-20 minutes away from us so it is hard for us to get out there. That was my first actual member present lesson so far on my mission. We visited a less active named Brother Gwin that also lives in Nipawin, he is a Electrician, him and his wife moved there a couple years ago from the states. we also taught Nathan this week twice. I got to play Balloon tennis at the old folks home on Wednesday, we usually go there twice a week to play bingo and to help with balloon tennis, i like playing bingo a lot more than balloon tennis. We got to play basketball this week, and did some more volunteering at the salvation army. The Relief society had a mothers day party on Thursday, and we set up chairs and tables for them and got a meal and cake out of it. we did Family history and we had 4 people show up for it. More basketball this week and that's all that really happened till Saturday.

Saturday was a lot of service and cleaning. we had the church building cleanup in the morning and we did some hedge trimming and lots of general cleaning like windows floors bathrooms and other things in and around the church. the Stake president had to come in to a meeting that we were holding over a issue in and involving a member of the branch and some things that the individual has done. the individual has been accused and caught on tape involving some inappropriate and pedophile actions, the members of the branch are very concerned for their children so we held a meeting to discuss them and the branch president being there was the best part as he was controlling anger and people tendencies to just start yelling. probably the only reason that everything went according to plan.

We Helped another Less active in the branch named sister Praski do some concrete work in her basement and we came to the church afterwords and a lady called the church asking if she could come and pray so we said she could and we just talked with her for a little and she said she wanted to come to church but she never came so we are trying to get in and meet with her again if possible.

QUESTIONS:

1. Did you get any hail damage on the car during the storm?
2. Are you still playing the piano a little?
3. How is it going learning the lessons?
4. Can you write a thank you note to the young women for their letters and pillowcase? I think they asked you questions?
5. Will you have bikes as it gets warmer?
6.  What blessings did you see in your life this week?
__________________________
1. No
2. No
3. Not very well as we are not supposed to memorize them but rather "teach people not lessons"
4. yah Physical copy or a email
5. No. Probably not
6. we had a person come to us basically, and hopefully we can get her baptized

Short sleeve shirts are OUT!

Hi,

This week we didn't have much that happened out of the normal. We tried to sign up as Clergy to talk to people at the hospital, so it took about a hour to do all the paperwork and then we found out that we need a criminal record check... we cant get one cause we are not citizen's of Melfort, so that was a waste of a hour and a half. We then tried going through most of the finding ideas in the planner and they all backfired. We did go to the salvation army this week again and helped do some heavy lifting and some sorting of clothes. Now that Khris is bed ridden for the next 2 months or so, we are going to try and help out a lot more than we usually do. We visited a less active single mother in our branch that has been struggling, we got her food from the food bank and taught her the restoration lesson. We had Brother and Sister Prete come with us to that so Sister Prete could distract the two children so we could actually teach her the lesson. We are still continuing to meet with Nathan the less active in the branch. We still meet with him every Tuesday and Thursday. We have a lady that we thought would be good but she is just using us now, the other day she called us to bring sandwiches over for like the third time. I don't think we will be visiting her again for a while. We are just teaching less actives now.  We went to the food bank this week too and did some food hampers. Brother Prete lost his iPad in Saskatoon when he was there at the church so we tried to help him with find my iPhone but we could not find it so we just had lunch instead. We then taught Nathan again and forgot we had dinner with the Vera's so we rushed over there and then rushed to Saskatoon for zone conference the next day. We sang happy birthday to Elder Stewart and hung out for a little and then went to bed. We got to eat breakfast with the President and the Assistants on Friday morning. I got your pillowcase and all the letters from the young women and activity days girls and I gave a talk in the Zone conference and it went well I thought.

We got TiWi's installed in our cars so now they track all that we do. remember the car at Hawaii that the elders drove, kinda like that. We have to sign in every time when we drive. Its not too bad though, I thought it would be a lot more sensitive but its not bad.

Our Skype computer went out on us and the ones we email on don't let us use Skype so we will have to use Facebook to call on Sunday. I don't know when but sometime in the afternoon.

1. How did the cake taste for Elder Stewarts Birthday?
2. How soon do you want the new journal?
3. When are you phoning?
4.Give any talks or teach any classes in church this week?
5. Have you seen Khris from Salvation army since his Surgery?
6. How is the Book of Mormon reading club going?
7.Did you see some sun this week?
8.What blessings did you see this week?
9.What did you learn this week?

1. It was good, we got ice cream as well
2. As soon as possible
3. Sunday, ill email time when on like Saturday or something
4. I gave a talk at zone conference, I did it on faith
5. Nope but we texted him
6. It ended, people cant make it out
7. Ya it got up to like 20 degrees this week
8. I got to see other Elders
9. Actually quite a bit

yaaaah... fun week.

Melfort Tie Collection
Melfort streets with Elder Romeril--maybe need a little sidewalk repair? haha

Hello,

This week wasn't really crazy at all. On Monday we did a FHE with some people at the old folks home here. We gave them the sacrament because they cannot make it to church. I have not done that in a while so it was great to do it again. I think the last time that I did it was with Ryan Black in like September. Tuesday we had a Book of Mormon read and we had two young men and the young men's president, Brother Prete, we read all of Ether and Moroni with them. We brought pizza and pop so we had that while we read so that was fun. Wednesday we didn't do much.   On Thursday we had two less active lessons and drove to the Zone leaders apartment in Saskatoon. On Friday we had our exchanges with the zone leaders which was pretty fun. I went with Elder Griffin, he was the AP with Elder Stewart when I came in and he was pretty fun to be around. We had a birthday celebration for Elder stewart too. I actually did quite a-lot of talking and doing things that day, we did a bit of everything, street contacting, tracting, meal appointment (whoops-left my leftovers at the zone leaders apartment) and some family history for some new converts. We got a decent amount of stuff done and almost set a baptismal date. Saturday was pretty bad we didn't do much at all we visited a less active named Terry Bunney, she had surgery a while ago on her knee and we shared the prince of peace video with her and talked about how we can bring peace into our lives with Christ at our side. That went well, we had a member named Logan Froc, the branch president's son, come with us to that. He is the branch mission leader and so he comes with us quite a bit. On Sunday we had church as usual and we had a lunch appointment at the Lacno's (Philipino) and had some cool food there. I find I don't really like a lot of Philipino food but I eat it anyways. Elder Romeril LOVE'S it a ton. We had a sorta investigator come to that, his name is Khris, he is a worker at the salvation army. He has come to church a ton and he goes for surgery today for 4 Months so I probably wont see him for a while or maybe even again! We wanted to see if he wanted to get baptized but we never asked yet, so hopefully in the future.

Anyways this week wasn't half bad, we did have a fairly busy week and alot to do so that was nice. We got to do some street contacting here in Melfort, but it is really hard because everyone has a religion here, door to door everyone is either Catholic, Lutheran, baptist, or something of the sort. We might be doing a lot more service at the salvation army now that Khris is gone as he was the heavy lifter so we will need to replace him maybe. That will be nice!

That was about all for this week.

Did you have something funny happen this week?
What is the strangest thing someone has said to you?
Did  you share a gospel message with anyone?
Have you connected with the pizza place yet?
How is the lego temple coming along?
What color journal do you want me to send?
Do you get the ensign? New Era?
Do you do highway clean up there? We are doing it here this weekend

1. A young kid, maybe 13-15 tried to sell us drugs last night, he ran up to us and asked us if we had a hundred bucks then ran off... weird.
2.  Some Islamic guy said that they beleive in energy and that god is unique, no brothers or sisters, not parents, no kids. but, he created us, but not in his image, and that Mohammad was the last prophet, so basically islam for you. Quran is the only Un-corrupted book in history. weird
3. Yah a guy named Rupert in Saskatoon, he had a hard time understanding due to a language barrier, he is Phiilipino i think.
4. tried once and havent tried again
5. Don't have enough Lego's so I will make a mini one
6. Doesn't matter just not blue
7. Yah we get them all.
8. no but we did a food and bottle drive.

ok bye, talk to you next week, love you all.

Love,
Elder Sheen

Elder Sheens family has layover at Winnipeg Airport
So close, yet so far away!

Hello,

This week wasn't too crazy, we didn't do much again, there is not much to do around here. We are going to start re-tracting the areas we had previously tracted and hopefully someone else will answer the door this time. It snowed today, so that was pretty depressing. I started to see some green grass in some places so I was getting excited but then BAM, snow. I got a but tonne of lego from the salvation army, someone donated a big box so of course I made sure I got that, haha I'm trying to build a temple but its hard. We have been meeting with a less active that moved here, we meet on Tuesday and Thursday at 7, and its just a venting out session for him so its kind of annoying. We have been trying to do the stop smoking program with him but I don't think he is doing very good at it. I don't know where he is at, but he says that he has been good for 5 days. So that is amazing and  we will see where that goes. We played basketball on Friday and we had like 11 people so we played full court basketball so a lot of running. We had dinner at the Charbennous (shar-ben-os) and I traded some ties. We contacted a media referral out in Nipawin and he was pretty cool. He had a lot of questions about what we are all about so we answered all of that.

Questions.

2. Did you get the pillowcase package from the Young women ever?
3. It snowed here again Friday!! how about you? Today is very cloudy and rainy

9. What is one miracle you had this week?
10. What is one blessing you are grateful for?
11. What is something the Lord taught you this week through prayer and reading the scriptures?
12. What is something a member taught you this week and how is it going to help other members?
13. What is something a non-member taught you this week and how is it going to help other non-members?
14. What is something you learned this week. . . just about anything?
15.  Have you had any funny stories this week?

1. It seems to be holding but I wanted to get it hardcore sewn but I forgot to mention that so it should hold for a while.
2. No, not yet at least. We have a Zone conference soon so maybe then. I got my shirts though.

Riding one of our less active investigators scooters, and he thought it wouldnt drive! haha

Hello Family

This week seemed like a year! i was starting to wonder if i missed a week of emailing cause it felt soo long. We had transfers last week and i stayed here but i still got moved around a ton.  Prince Albert had a baptism this weekend but one of the elders was being transferred right before it happened (he does not have a licence) so i had to drive the Elder to Saskatoon so he could get transferred out to kindersley, which actually goes into Alberta. Anyways, so i drove to Saskatoon and Elder Romeril stayed in Prince Albert to do the baptismal interviews. I had to drive all the way to the church and down to Regina so i could accompany a missionary who was going home cause he was done his mission. i had to do this because there were two sisters and 3 elders so they needed another elder to drive all three cars we needed to get to winnipeg, so I got to travel with the trunkiest (trunky is a term we use for missionaries who want to got home) missionary ever, so im pretty trunky now. Anyways I stayed the night in Regina with Elder Burnett and we did some crap, I got chased by a dog that day too out of a guys yard so I have been chased (it was a pit bull to so i was out of there) lucky for the fence, the man was super nice too. I also got sworn at for the first time there too. I stayed there till Friday and drove back to Saskatoon with Ryan Blacks trainer Elder Bateman and he is in Prince Albert so he is in my district. He talked about how Elder Black said I always got pops so I made sure to buy a pop to prove it to him.

i had to give a talk on Sunday and it was pretty bad cause I didn't have anytime to prepare, I had like 4 pages of stuff and it took like 5 mins so that was pretty bad. Elder Romeril spoke and his was really good.

1. Did you have a meal with someone for easter?
2. Have you done any service or met anyone new this week?
3. Did you talk to the pizza lady?
4. How are you doing with cleaning apartment, laundry and cooking?
5. Have you been chased by any dogs yet?
6. Why is sydni so weird ? Hahaha

1.We ate with the Frocs on Sunday and taught them a lesson
2. Nope!
3. Nope!
4. Decent enough.
5. Yes in Regina one dog chased me and Elder Burnett
6. idk cause.

so good week i guess, if i just keep saying that maybe it will happen!
Have fun in Florida, dont get bit by too many poisonous things or die that would be bad. i like the sheen crew t shirts, cool. make sure you get me a alligator head or something cool.

Love,
Elder Sheen

Hello,

This week we had the food and bottle drive and it was alright. We had 22 missionaries that came from our zone to help with it and they were staying with random people throughout the community and we call it billets. So these people stayed with billets and we were supposed to as well but one of the sisters billets didn't show so they took ours and we stayed at our apartment. We then proceeded to continue the bottle drive on Saturday which me and Elder Romeril and the zone leaders had the biggest areas to do and it took us from 9:30 am to 4:00 pm of walking door to door and collecting bottles.  We got a fair amount of food and bottles and a good amount of cash donations apparently, i don't know the exact amount of money that we got but anyways it was a good amount of donations we received. Elder Romeril interviewed the elders to see if we had anyone interested or if anyone  wanted to know more about anything and we didn't have anything so that sucked.

We had our only investigator drop us this week, they seemed pretty good to start off but she fell away. Her name is Carmen she has lunched us a couple of times so I don't think she really wants to hear anything more about us but she likes that we are interested in saving her soul.

I didn't do much this week, Elder Romeril was busy leading the bottle drive and such but I wasn't able to do much so I did a lot of cleaning and carrying the food from the kitchen to the dining area but the sight and sound rule makes stuff super hard out here. We had transfers today, me and Elder Romeril are staying together, Elder Howes and Elder Low are the companionship in Prince Albert and Elder Howe's is going to Kindersly district. They have a baptism that they got for this Saturday so that stinks for Elder Howes, but Elder low is at 18 months and has not had a baptism yet so President kept him there for that, so that is good for him. Elder Howe's has more time left so he got shipped out of there. I also got to have my interview with president and it went well. I made sure to offer suggestion's and to not complain. What really bothers me is that everyone says that you have to figure these things out for yourself, just imagine how progressed the work would be if missionaries shared the tools and techniques they use and used and they were specific with it too. i don't know why everything is so secretive, like just share what works!

--Did you get our package? it says it was delivered?
—Did you get the email about Tara at the Pizza Place?
—Did you play basketball this week?
—Where were you when you were singing with your zone?
—How did the bottle drive go?
—Tell us about you and Elder Romeril
—Do you want a puzzle?

1. I did get the package, all my photo's are now stored and I hung some up too!
2. Yah I got the email, we will try later.
3. We did, we had eight people there and it was fun.
4. We were in the Melfort chapel
5. It went well, i talked a lot about it in the letter
6. We get along, but I am annoying him I think
7.  No thanks, I have no time cause i gotta study and learn so i can actually teach

Have a good week, play games, do whatever you guys do, eat cookies and get fat.

Love,
Elder Sheen
